An Excellent Condition Antique Revolutionary War Period European Continental Military Flintlock Pistol

An Excellent Condition Antique Revolutionary War Period European Continental Military Flintlock Pistol

 c. 1750-1770's.

An Excellent Condition Antique Revolutionary War Period European Continental Military Flintlock Pistol (most likely Dutch or Germanic), c. 1750-1770's.  10.5", .72 caliber steel smoothbore barrel.  The convex lock has no exterior markings.  The pistol is in its original flintlock configuration.  Brass furniture.  The stock has a raised section similar to the British Beavertail found on the majority of the military patterns.  The stock is solid with light scratches and dings from years of service and handling.  All steel parts are in the bright.  Unique brass ram rod.  A very interesting flintlock pistol in good mechanical working order.

NOTE:  This pistol is very interesting and I have seen only 5 examples in the past 35 years.  The frizzen spring and trigger guard is just like the French military pattern 1763.  The brass butt cap form is unique.  It is known that the Dutch military copied many French military patterns and made minor alterations.  This pattern pistol may be one of them.  I have included a photo of another example in my collection (TTI-552121) as a comparison.
